3 Jul 2008 | Press release - Acquisition of Belgian Libost-Groep by Grontmij finalised

The phased acquisition of Engineering agency Libost-Groep N.V. by Grontmij (see press release of 15 November 2007) has been realised with the transfer of 55% of the issued capital to Grontmij as per July 1, 2008.

The remaining shares will be transferred within the next 5 years. Libost-Groep’s operating income in 2007 amounted to € 10.5 million. As per date of transfer Libost-Groep will positively contribute to Grontmij’s profitability. Libost-Groep achieved in 2007 an EBIT-margin higher than the average of the Grontmij Group.

Grontmij’s strategy centres on consolidating its position in its home markets, and by so doing, to boost its position as major European consultant in the areas of the environment, water and energy, construction, industry and infrastructure.

With offices in Hasselt and Leuven (Louvain), Libost-Groep employs 130 professionals. With this acquisition, the number of Grontmij employees in Belgium currently comes up to more than 700.

Grontmij and Libost-Groep have been working together on various projects for a long time, including the public-private cooperation projects ‘Ring Road Gent’ and the ‘Kempen North-South Connection’ and recently for the ‘Spartacus’ project (60 km Light Rail in Belgium Limburg).

Grontmij intends to be the best local service provider for design, consultancy, management, engineering and contracting of projects in environment, water, energy, building, industry and transportation. Our employees thus create value for our clients and shareholders and contribute to a sustainable living and working environment.
