Press release - Fluxys awards Grontmij with a major study contract
Grontmij in Belgium, location Mechelen, recently won a major contract to carry out a study on behalf of Fluxys to lay on fibre optic cables alongside the existing main gas pipeline over a distance of 160 km from Poppel to Blaregnies.
With this study Grontmij enters the growing market of energy investments in Belgium.
Fluxys is officially listed on the prime market of the Euronext Brussels Stock-Exchange and has a turnover of € 412 mio and forms part of the Suez-group which is active in the energy, water and environmental care markets worldwide.
Natural gas enters Belgium from all corners of the world: from the Netherlands, Norway, Great-Britain as well as from the Russian Federation, Algeria and Nigeria. Fluxys is responsible for the transportation of this natural gas in a safe and reliable way. Fluxys brings this gas to major industrial consumers, inter-municipal distribution agencies and electrical plants. But it also transports a lot of natural gas, which is not being used in Belgium, and carries it from one border to the other from where it is conducted to its final destination in Europe. Grontmij has become one of the preferential partners of Fluxys.
