Grontmij’s business line Water & Energy will be responsible to ensure an effective deployment of the project, including the preconstruction planning and procurement of the facility and to ensure that the plant is built according to the best achievable technology, with the aim to have as little impact on the environment as possible. Grontmij also participated in a pilot study that led to the decision to build the power plant.
The cogeneration plant in Gjovik will annually produce approximately 170 GWh of steam, electricity and district heating and will replace the existing electrical and oil based plants. The cogeneration plant is expected to contribute to the city’s carbon dioxide emissions with a reduction of 30%. In addition the plant will supply local industry, business as well as a few hundred households.
Per-Anders Tauson, Business line Director of Water & Energy at Grontmij Sweden: ‘We very much look forward to lead the project and are proud that our expertise in renewable energy and district heating is appreciated. Grontmij in Sweden has considerable knowledge and expertise in bio fuels and cogeneration and our reference cases include cogeneration plants in Swedish cities such as Helsingborg, Skövde and Tidaholm’.
