The buyers are its management and mbo Partenaires. The divestment encompasses the entire Telecoms business including its approximately 1,200 employees.
After the acquisition of Ginger in 2010 the Executive Board of Grontmij maintained a strategic flexible position with regard to the Telecoms business. The decision on the divestment follows on a comprehensive review of strategic options in which all stakeholder interest have been taken into account.
Closing of the transaction is foreseen to take place before the end of October. The proceeds will be used to improve the financing structure of the Group.
Sylvo Thijsen, CEO Grontmij N.V.: ‘I am very pleased with the results of this process. The divestment shows that Grontmij continues to be focused on its core business as a sustainable design, engineering and management consultancy for the built and natural environment. It also offers the Telecoms division an opportunity to meet its full potential with mbo Partenaires.’
