Grontmij to advise Thermphos on reducing air pollution
Thermphos International B.V. – one of the world’s largest producers of phosphorus – has asked Grontmij to develop a high-tech purification installation for cleaning the flue gases released during the production process.
An air pollution with flue gases is a highly sensitive societal issue. A state of the art technological solution for this problem will keep our industry in the Zeeland region clean and will contribute to a sustainable economical and social responsible development. Not for nothing the issue has a high media profile. Grontmij will use all her expertise to reduce the emission of dioxin within the NER standard and odour nuisance will become a thing of the past. Thermphos will be the first phosphorus producer in the world to use this technology.
Grontmij’s work, to be started this month, will be undertaken within an international project team in which both Dutch and German Grontmij engineers with specific knowledge of flue gas cleaning will be involved. Grontmij is to undertake a process analysis and feasibility study, and will supervise the tendering procedure for construction of the installation. Thermphos aims to have the system up and running at the latest by the end of 2014.
