With the renovations the city of Toulouse aims to enhance the scientific culture of the city. An important aspect of the assignment lies in the important interface with the construction of the future light rapid transit system, as well as the collections of the neighbouring botanical garden. Another key element of the assignment is that sustainable development measures must be taken into account throughout the project.
The assignment of Grontmij includes the design and the overseeing of the structure, mechanical and electrical engineering, utilities networks (water distribution, sewage, etc) as well as safety and security measures (fire detection and protection). The assignment also includes the supervision on the technical consistency between the internal networks with the structure and the realisation of the shop drawings.
Jean-Luc Schnoebelen, Executive Board member Grontmij N.V. and CEO Ginger: ‘I am proud that the city of Toulouse has chosen Grontmij for this project that aims to develop the culture of the city. All the more because of the specific challenges it holds. It involves the rehabilitation of buildings that date from the end of the 19th century and that are in a rundown state. We will ensure an environmentally friendly approach that favours passive solutions for the renovation of the premises. With this approach we will contribute to improving the living environment of students, engineers and researchers from around the world who are based in Toulouse.’
