Douwe van der Werf will stay at Grontmij as CFO until the publication of the 2008 figures on March 12, 2009.  The company has initiated a search for a new CFO. In the meantime,  Sylvo Thijsen, CEO of Grontmij N.V., and Birgit W. Nørgaard, COO of Grontmij N.V./ Managing Director of  Grontmij | Carl Bro in Denmark, will share the tasks and responsibilities of the CFO job between them.

‘I have had five great years with Grontmij. Looking back at where we were in 2003 and where Grontmij is now, I am very pleased and satisfied with the achievements. Grontmij has turned into a different company with a good and clear strategy and a solid future. From a local Dutch player, Grontmij has become a European player. This has brought the company into a different phase which requires a different approach’, says Douwe van der Werf.

The Supervisory Board and Executive Board regret the resignation of Douwe van der Werf but are grateful for his enormous dedication to the company over the past five years and wish him every success in his new role. Sylvo Thijsen says, ‘Douwe and I worked together for more than 5 years. I would like to thank Douwe personally and on behalf of the Board for his hard work, loyalty and support in helping to restructure and grow the company to where it currently stands.’
