Ernst, who has been working with Grontmij for over 20 years, most recently as director of Grontmij’s northwest region in the Netherlands, will take up the position in early March. During his career, Ernst has gained extensive transportation experience in the Dutch arm of the business. This includes roles as director of the traffic and infrastructure department and head of the transportation group in the department of physical planning.

Based in Grontmij’s UK and Ireland head office in Leeds, Ernst will be tasked with developing Grontmij’s transport area of expertise. In particular he will utilise his extensive Active Traffic Management experience to develop this within the UK’s transport infrastructure.

Welcoming Ernst to his new role, Lawrence Hughes, Grontmij’s managing director for UK and Ireland, said, “We are delighted that Ernst will be joining us. His wide-ranging transportation and management experience will place Grontmij in a very strong position to exploit future opportunities, particularly in growing fields such as managed motorways.
