The road from Dokkum (N361) to Nijega (N31) will be constructed from scratch, including both by-passes around Hurdegaryp and Garyp. To this end Grontmij will cooperate with Witteveen+Bos.

The team is due to start preparatory work soon on the drafting of the contract for the project. The team will convert the definite proposal into the contract design, draw up three engineering and construction contracts and provide support to the client with respect to the invitation for tenders and the granting of the project.

The Centrale As
The Centrale As consists of a motorway with two lanes in either direction. The road will have a total length of approx. 35 kilometres, including both by-passes. The marked out road (section) further includes one aqueduct under the Prinses Margriet canal, and some twenty flyovers and (bicycle) tunnels.

The Centrale As will ensure better accessibility, enhanced traffic flow, greater road safety and will give the entire region an economic boost.

Regional player with international expertise

Such a project for which knowledge of the region combined with (inter)national expertise is essential, blends in seamlessly with Grontmij’s strategy.
