Grontmij in Poland, one of the leading consultancy firms on water treatment, acquired today 100% of the shares of KPI System, a Katowice based design company. With this acquisition Grontmij enters the Polish transportation market.
 

KPI System has strong references in the southern part of Poland, especially in Katowice, Cracow and Wrocław. The company was involved in the design of express roads, motorways, bridges, light rail systems and also made designs for private investments.

During the previous three years KPI carried out approx. 55 projects. KPI was also involved in feasibility studies for motorways and for public transport. Its main clients are the national and regional road authorities, the cities and public transport companies.

KPI System has a workforce of 40 staff. Its annual turnover is approximately PLN 4 million. KPI System will contribute to the net result in 2008.

Transportation market
The transportation market is rapidly growing also because of an inflow of approx. € 20 billion EU funding during the planning period 2007 – 2013 and in addition to that significant amounts from the state and regional budgets.

Through the recent acquisition by Grontmij of Roger Preston & Partners in the UK, also the Warsaw based design office, Roger Preston in Poland, Grontmij strengthens its position in the Polish building consultancy services market.

Grontmij in Poland already built up a position for project management services, but is also able now to offer now more specialized technical services. The Warsaw office of Roger Preston & Partners employs approximately 40 specialists.

Grontmij’s ambition in Poland is to achieve a leading position in the consulting and engineering market through organic growth and acquisitions. Currently Grontmij employs in Poland more than 300 staff in offices in Poznań, Warsaw, Lódz, Katowice, Olsztyn, Gdańsk, Szczecin and Białystok.
