In line with the organisation’s corporate growth, Grontmij’s nomination has notably moved the consultancy’s UK business from the Medium Consultancy category in 2003 (under the Carl Bro name) to the Major Consultancy category this year. This is reflected in the company’s excellent reputation both with clients and peers and its expanding services portfolio, which was further bolstered by a series of strategic acquisitions in 2008.
In the UK and Ireland, Grontmij offers services across four main disciplines of water, the built and natural environment, transportation and systems and is a sector leader in sustainability and environmental issues. The consultancy’s enviable achievements in recent years include:
• Increase in employees from 577 in 2003 to 1302 in 2009
• Recent project wins include the M80, the N2 Clontibret to Northern Ireland border scheme and phase II site investigation and assessment works at the Commonwealth Games site in Glasgow.
• Other high profile current and recent projects include the Telemetry Replacement and Integration (TeRI) project for Severn Trent Water, landscape architecture at the entrance to The O2 in London, the M6 Carlisle to Guardsmill and the National Traffic Control Centre.
“It is a fantastic achievement to be recognised as a main contender in our industry and shows just what we have achieved in terms of company growth and reputation over the last six years.” says Lawrence Hughes, managing director for UK and Ireland. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to the company. I am looking forward to driving further success in 2009.”
The awards will be held on the 20th March at Claridges Hotel in London.
