5 Feb 2009 | Press release - Grontmij secures new orders for more than € 13 million

Grontmij recently secured a number of major orders from existing customers in the Netherlands and on Cyprus.

Framework contract for infrastructural work for the Utrecht municipality
A framework contract for ‘Engineering services’ with the Utrecht municipality has been signed. Grontmij, and two other parties, will support the municipality’s large-scale infrastructural work during the next three to four years. The estimated annual revenue for the three selected parties amounts to about € 7 million.

The projects concern the residential development in Rijnenburg (a polder area near Vleuten-De Meern), the upgrading of HOV bus lanes and the reduction of the backlog of major maintenance work in public areas. Under the provisions of the contract Grontmij furthermore will outsource members of staff to IBU Stadsingenieurs (the design and consultancy agency of the Utrecht municipality) or to one or several other commissioning services so as to boost IBU’s current capacity. The expected deployment is about 80,000 man hours.

Accurate measuring for the Dutch Land Register
The Dutch Land Register (Kadaster) and Grontmij have signed a ‘Surveying Services 2006-2010’ framework agreement. The purpose of this agreement is to contribute to the legal certainty of land ownership. Grontmij will measure about 15,000 deed areas throughout the Netherlands for the Dutch Land Register.

The speed and accuracy of the measurements we carried out within the framework of a previous project have led to this new request. The arithmetic processing program used at the Land Register is based on our MOVE3 software. The project runs until August 2010. The estimated revenue for Grontmij amounts to approximately € 2 million.

EU support for Turkish Cyprus
Grontmij has been commissioned by the European Commission to assist the Turkish Cypriot government in their efforts to ensure that local waste (water) and water management complies with European environmental standards. Our expertise will be used to train and support the various local parties. Pilot projects for the management of medical and organic waste water and a communication strategy focussed on waste management also form part of the assignment.

The project is part of the € 259 million EU assistance scheme for the Turkish Cypriot community. Grontmij’s revenue will amount to approximately € 4.2 million over a period of more than three years.
