The declarations of intent regard the preparation and realisation of a waste treatment and an energy project. Mrs Peijs is currently heading a Dutch delegation visiting the Chinese province of Hubei of which Wuhan is the capital.

The declaration of intent regards the design, engineering and realisation of a waste separation plant. In addition to this Grontmij reached agreement about the design and engineering and realisation of an installation which will produce methane gas out of sludge from a waste water treatment plant and convert it into biogas to be used for energy (e.g. automotive fuels). Grontmij acquired the essential experience for these type of digesters in several Swedish projects.

The two projects together imply a scope of approximately 23 million euro. It is expected that revenues and (usual) results of these projects will be realised in 2008 and 2009. Grontmij will provide knowledge and expertise in the fields of waste management, biogas installations, procurement and project management.

The projects find their origin in the recently completed successful realisation by Grontmij of a waste treatment facility for the city of Wuhan and a visit of a delegation to similar locations and installations in The Netherlands and Sweden.
