Grontmij in Denmark has been awarded the general consulting contract for the Danish National Rail Authority’s Copenhagen-Ringsted railway project. The subconsultants for the project will be Danish architects and planners Møller & Grønborg and Banverket Projektering of Sweden. The total amount of the contract is approximately 2.9 million euro.
As lead consultant Grontmij will initially assist the Rail Authority in planning and preparing invitations to tender for technical consulting contracts. The longer-term result will be two proposals – one for the new railway line from Copenhagen via Køge to Ringsted and another for the extension of the existing railway network between Hvidovre and Høje Taastrup.
"In Denmark Grontmij covers all the necessary technical fields. This is a highly interesting project in that it will require us to deal with environmental conditions and construction work as well as railway technology", says Division Director Transportation Denmark Arne Buhl Petersen.
The project is well in line with the consulting services provided by Grontmij in connection with the refurbishment of the Copenhagen Central Station. In the Netherlands Grontmij has headed similar projects like the establishment of the Betuwe railway line from Rotterdam to the German border.
Grontmij intends to be the best local service provider for consultancy, management, engineering and contracting of projects in building, transportation, environment, water, industry and energy. Our employees thus create value for our clients and shareholders and contribute to a sustainable living and working environment.
