Grontmij in Denmark recently won a major contract for a new sewer system in Cyprus. Also, Grontmij in Belgium signed a contract for engineering services with Fina Antwerp Olefins.
 

Cyprus
Larnaca, an important harbour and tourist town in Cyprus, needs a new sewer system and a water treatment plant extension. Grontmij was chosen for a six year contract which includes planning and supervision of the establishment of 300 kilometres of sewer pipes, 13 pump stations and improvements to the water treatment plant. The contract amount to Grontmij is not public.

The total budget to upgrade the sewer and water treatment system including construction costs is € 150 million. The budget is funded by the European Investment Bank and national resources to the values of € 70 million and € 80 million respectively.

Belgium
Fina Antwerp Olefins has awarded a 6 year alliance contract for engineering services to Grontmij in Belgium. Fina Antwerp Olefins is a joint venture between Total and ExxonMobil Chemical. The company processes naphtha, butane and propane into base chemicals. These are used in the Antwerp and Feluy plants for polymer production or sold to the chemical industry.

The contract covers design and engineering of all small to medium sized projects, document management and procurement assistance. The contract has a value of approximately € 1.2 million per year.
