14 Dec 2007 | Press release - Grontmij working on gas transport network extension

Grontmij secured a contract for the execution of work on an addition to the Dutch gas transport network. The client is N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie.

Gasunie has named this extension Project Gasrotonde (‘Gas Junction’) phase 1. The addition to the gas transport network includes the realisation of various pipelines from Groningen to Limburg and Zeeland Flanders, the construction of new compressor sta-tions and adjustments to various other stations.

Within the framework of this project, Grontmij is responsible for providing detailed devel-opment of stations of the gas transport network. Additionally, they will support the construction work and provide drawings of the stations accurately reflecting their eventual appearance. These operations will stretch to the end of October 2008 and involve thirteen gas locations across the Netherlands. The amount of money involved in this project is EUR 1.3 million.

Within this project, such disciplines as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering & instrumentation and architectural engineering enjoy particularly strong representation. The process also involves technological and civil engineering work.

The name Gasrotonde refers to its connection to the transport networks of Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom and Belgium. Proper connections and the presence of gas storage facilities will lead to more gas being transported through the Netherlands.

The successful completion of Gasrotonde’s first phase will ensure the continued supply of gas. This will enable Gasunie to strengthen its position as a gas infrastructure com-pany in the European market.

Grontmij intends to be the best local service provider for consultancy, management, engineering and contracting of projects in building, transportation, environment, water, industry and energy. Our employees thus create value for our clients and shareholders and contribute to a sustainable living and working environment.
