3 Mar 2010 | Press release - Grontmij announces two UK water framework wins

Grontmij has announced two major five year framework wins in the UK Water industry. The design, engineering and management consultancy has recently won framework contracts with Anglian Water and Wessex Water.

Anglian Water Services, part of the Anglian Water Group, has extended the contract with the @one Alliance into AMP5 (2010 - 2015 investment period). The @one Alliance will be responsible for delivering more than 50% of Anglian Water’s AMP5 capital programme.

Grontmij is one of seven companies who will work together within an alliancing environment and will be responsible for projects that have a value in excess of € 1.1 billion. As per budget projections, the work that Grontmij will carry out within the @one Alliance, has a projected value of € 22 million for Grontmij over the five years. On the Wessex Water framework, subject to appointment for individual projects, Grontmij will provide consultancy services to assist the utility company in its treatment workstream. This includes services such as civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering design for water and sewage treatment works. The overall budgeted value of the framework to Grontmij is projected to be € 11-16.5 million over AMP5.

The framework contract awards come at the start of AMP5 which is the next five year period in the UK’s Asset Management Programme cycle. Work on the frameworks will commence in April 2010.

Lawrence Hughes, Group Director - Water & Energy of Grontmij N.V. said: “This appointment demonstrates a healthy upturn in the workload for our UK Water business with a strong forward order book now in place. This will provide a stable amount of work for our UK consultants for a period of five years. The UK water industry is clearly at a turning point now as we head towards AMP5 which starts in April. Linked with our revised strategy, during AMP5, we will further consolidate our position as a leader in the UK Water Industry.”
