Grontmij, which carried out the due diligence for investment company Almacantar on its purchase of Centre Point earlier this year, has now been engaged to work on the design team reviewing the options for the landmark building.
Grontmij will be responsible for all of the engineering systems and sustainable design including minimising the use of energy, vertical transportation, fire strategy engineering, BREEAM and ECO Homes Assessments.
Work is already underway looking at options for the listed building, which is situated next to Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station - one of the largest on the new route – when it opens in 2018.
Sylvo Thijsen, CEO Grontmij N.V. commented: ‘Shaping one of Europe’s key cities through creative and innovative design is core to Grontmij’s strategy in our Planning & Design business line. A key element is to ensure the sustainable design of this landmark building at the heart of London as to add value for the building’s future inhabitants.’
