Press release - Grontmij designs new building for Lufthansa Cargo AG
Grontmij has been assigned to do the structural design for a new administrative building which Lufthansa Cargo AG (LCAG) and Lufthansa Technik Training (LTT) plan to build in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). The total investment sum is € 85 million. The fee for Grontmij’s structural design is approx. € 1 million.
Grontmij has been assigned by Neumann Architekten GmbH, who won the contract. Being part of the group, Grontmij Germany is delivering structural design and consulting services until the end of 2012.
With its elegant aerodynamic design the complex of buildings reflects typical elements of modern aviation. The building shall combine offices and administration functions, a company restaurant and an under-ground car park. Two basements are covered by a solid pedestal carrying four connected bars. Its modern streamline architecture is adapted to the surrounding buildings of the Lufthansa Flight Training Centre (LFTC). The reinforced concrete construction carries a lightweight steel-frame structure in penthouse style. The property is situated north of the airport opposite gate 23 and adjacent to the LFTC.
