Prize for Grontmij in Denmark for Bispebjerg Bakke art building
On Wednesday 1 November 2007, the Museum of Copenhagen was the venue for the Copenhagen Culture Fund to hand over prizes to, among others, Bispebjerg Bakke.
Bispebjerg Bakke was rewarded with a diploma and a prize in recognition of a well-constructed building project in Copenhagen.
As consultant engineer on the project, Grontmij in Denmark received a prize for the sculptural residential building Bispebjerg Bakke in northwest Copenhagen. The reason for the prize was that the building was distinctive and that “the organic dimensions play on associations with Gaudi and Rudolf Steiner.”
Digital construction
The distinctive Bispebjerg Bakke is a unique residential building where art, craftsmanship and technology complement each other. This is one of the most prominent examples of the successful use of digital tools in the planning and implementation of a building here in Denmark.
“The unconventional design of the building made it necessary to work digitally in all phases of the project, but experience shows that it will clearly pay to use it for more traditional buildings as well,” explains chief consultant Poul Erik Haurbæk from Grontmij in Denmark.
