Press release - Grontmij nominates Michiel Jaski as new CEO
Grontmij N.V. announces that its Supervisory Board will nominate Mr C.M. (Michiel) Jaski for appointment as chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer at the first upcoming General Meeting of Shareholders of Grontmij N.V. for a period of four years. Prior to the appointment, Mr Jaski enters into Grontmij’s employment in the role of CEO as per 19 December 2011.
CEO and chairman of the Executive Board Mr Sylvo Thijsen and the Supervisory Board have decided, in close consultation, that Mr Thijsen will step down as CEO and chairman of the Executive Board with immediate effect and will resign from the Executive Board at the first General Meeting of Shareholders. Mr Thijsen: ‘I had the privilege and pleasure of chairing our Executive Board for eight years and I believe now the time has come for a new person leading this company into the next era. Grontmij is a great company with dedicated professionals in all our expertise areas, providing our customers sustainable solutions, even in the challenging economy ahead.’
Mr J.H.J. Zegering Hadders, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Grontmij N.V.: ‘Mr Thijsen served our company for 27 years, of which 10 years on the Executive Board. We are grateful for his efforts and achievements. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him well.’
Experience
Michiel Jaski (52) joins Grontmij following a sabbatical. From 2000 until October 2010 he served as a member of the Executive Board of Arcadis N.V. In this role Mr Jaski was primarily responsible for the company’s European activities, representing approximately 40% of the business. Prior to Arcadis he worked for Shell where he gained substantial international experience in various positions. He left Shell as Global Vice President of one of its chemicals businesses, with activities in the United States, Latin-America and Europe. Mr Jaski graduated from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and subsequently obtained an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

The remuneration of Mr Jaski will be in line with the current remuneration policy of the group.
The distribution of tasks within the Executive Board will be discussed with the new CEO and the other members of the Executive Board and communicated in due course.
