Press release - Grontmij wins environmental projects in Poland and Hungary
Grontmij has been awarded three contracts in the field of environmental engineering. In Poland Grontmij has been assigned contract engineer on the construction of a waste-to-energy plant in Konin. In Hungary Grontmij will supervise two EU financed municipal projects. The contracted value for Grontmij is over EUR 1 million.
Poland
In Poland Grontmij won a contract with the Inter-Municipal Waste Management Department in Konin, to act as Contract Engineer on the construction of a waste-to-energy plant and the rehabilitation of fourteen municipal landfills. The project completion is scheduled for June 2016.
The waste-to-energy plant in Konin is to be built by the end of 2014. The installation is part of the programme concerning waste management in the sub region of Konin, which includes 30 municipalities of the districts of Konin, Koło, Słupca and Turek and involving over 330,000 inhabitants. The plant will process about 100 thousand tonnes of waste per year,18 MW thermal power and nearly 5 MW electric power. In addition to the construction of the waste-to-energy plant, the project includes remediation of 14 landfills.
Hungary
In Hungary Grontmij has been awarded two contracts. In Karcag Grontmij will be responsible for the engineering supervision of the recultivation of 5 municipal solid waste landfills. The project includes the supervision of the detection and removal of hazardous waste components, and reshaping and covering the remnant depots. The project completion is scheduled for the end of 2012.
In Vácszentlászló Grontmij has been commissioned the engineering supervision services for the construction of a new waste water treatment plant and sewage network. The project completion is scheduled for the end of 2013.
