In addition to investigating the carbon footprint of the municipality and its 32,500 residents, Grontmij developed an action plan to reduce emissions.

The solution included the development of a straw-based district heating system, an infrastructure to support electrical cars and informing local residents about the need to reduce emissions and practical steps that could be taken to achieve this.
