The client faced a number of challenges in achieving a reduction in methane emission, such as risk of landfill gas fires and explosions and odour nuisance.  However, the energy development company was keen to produce green renewable energy.

Grontmij provided the client with a number of innovative solutions which included the capture of landfill gas and its collection and treatment.  The result was the generation of green, renewable energy which was used in a nearby development area.
