Design support services for sewerage network
London’s existing sewerage network is over 150 years old and due to insufficient capacity, it overflows into the River Thames during times of heavy rainfall to prevent sewage flooding streets and buildings.
These overflows occur every week resulting in 32 M m3 of untreated sewage entering the Thames.
The London Tideway Tunnels will address this problem by capturing the most polluting sewage overflows and transferring them to a treatment works.
Grontmij is providing design support services for the project and is undertaking a geotechnical investigation to assess ground conditions.
