SHARON, nitrogen removal over nitrite: robust and reliable
As one of the possible answers to the issue of clean drinking water Grontmij developed the technology SHARON. In this part of the website you can find a further explanation of this concept and examples of realised waste water treatment plants as well as documentation of SHARON in (technical) journals.



DEMON, sustainable and innovative  
Another sustainable answer to the issue of clean drinking water is DEMON: the DEamMONnifacation process based on the anammox-reaction. Significant savings are the result.




Highlights:


Telemetry systems for better business information
Grontmij in the United Kingdom has been working closely with Severn Trent Water since 2004 to replace the utility’s 16 year old plant management and control system telemetry system. Our involvement has covered all parts of the project.



Upgrading the waterworks of Prague
The Department of Waterworks in Prague wanted to implement modern techniques in the existing water treatment facilities. Grontmij in Poland analyzed the possibilities and implemented the chosen systems.




First weak link in range of Dutch dunes at full strength
The dikes and dunes on the Dutch North Sea coast are under pressure from the rising sea level. The country’s main line of defence against the rising water – the dunes – has to be reinforced in the very short term. Grontmij’s expertise was called in for one of those projects.



Clean water supplies for Polish town
Grontmij realized in Poland the water-pipe network and a water treatment plant for the town of Pila. These works were needed because of the low productivity of existing approaches to the city saws.




Improving local water management in Poland
Grontmij improved in Poland the water and wastewater management systems of Bytom municipality. This project included the modernization and extension of the sewage system and the rainwater system, as well as the modernization of the sewage treatment system.



Modernizing drinking water and wastewater treatment
The City of Czestochowa (Poland) assigned Grontmij for the modernization of the waste water and drinking water treatment in two Polish cities. 





Improvement of river basin in Poland
Fifteen communities in the area of the Wisloka river benefited from the modernization of the water management systems in the Wisloka River basin.
