Grontmij assigned for design documentation for Schiersteiner bridge
After having already won the design contest for the Schiersteiner Bridge, Grontmij (in a consortium with Architect Ferdinand Heide) was assigned by the road administration Wiesbaden with the design documentation for the new 1280m long motorway bridge crossing the Rhine.
The flood plain area that is affected by the construction is environmentally highly sensitive and part of a nature protection area, a bird sanctuary and protected under the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive.
Grontmij had the best ideas to cope with these special conditions and hereby strengthens its position as one of the important traffic engineering companies in Germany.
