Clean water supplies for Polish town
Improving the capacity of local water treatment
Grontmij Poland realized the water-pipe network and a water treatment plant for the town of Pila. These works were needed because of the low productivity of existing approaches to the city saws, limiting the utility of groundwater pollution caused by petroleum substances products originating from the former military airport, and a lack of a water treatment plant providing water for production of all users of the water mains in the city of satisfying the requirements and standards.
The contract consisted of construction of a water treatment plant (with a capacity of 1260m3/h) and water supply network (the total length of mains DN 300 – DN 700 was 9 km). It was finished in april 2005.
An important objective of the project was to secure present and future needs of the city water saws. This project improved the quality of the water supplied, and created the conditions necessary for the implementation of regulatory law concerning the water intended for human consumption, in particular Directive 98/83/EC. In addition, this project, co-financed by the European Union, contributes to reducing the economic and social disparities between citizens of the Union. The investment was co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of European Union. The contract was realized with proper care and according to the rules of Conditions of Contract for Construction for building and engineering works designed by the employer (FIDIC red book).
