Grontmij improves the water situation on Cyprus
Grontmij works on the improvement of the water situation in drought-affected Cyprus, where the water table has dropped to 60 m below sea level in some places.
As the northern part of Cyprus is completely dependent on groundwater resources, several water infrastructure facilities will be constructed, including:
- a seawater desalination plant
- water distribution networks
- wastewater collection systems
- treatment plants
Construction supervisor
Grontmij will supervise the construction as well as ensure sustainability by training the utility staff in operation and maintenance.
The contract of EUR 3 million is financed by the European Commission and has a duration of approximately 4 years.
