Improvement of river basin

Fifteen communities in Poland benefit from beter water management 

Fifteen communities in the area of the Wisloka river benefited from the modernization of the water management systems in the Wisloka River basin. Grontmij in Poland took part in the preliminary design of the whole water supply and sewage collection systems.

The project included:

  • modernization of a water treatment plant (capacity 8,800 m³/d),
  • construction of water mains (80 km),
  • modernization of water distribution system (10 km),
  • construction of sewage collection system (600 km),
  • construction, development and modernization of 14 wastewater treatment plants (total capacity 6,000 m³/d).


Scope of services provided:

  • completion of Cohesion Fund Application (programming period 2000 – 2006),
  • preparation of feasibility study according to European Union and Polish Cohesion Fund implementation authorities standards,
  • legal and institutional analysis of water and sewerage services providers,
  • calculation of level of co-financing,
  • calculation of price strategy of water and sewerage services providers (tariffs applications, accounts for group water supply and sewerage collection,
  • preparation of procedures of Project Implementation Unit and preparation of Tender Dossier for the contract Engineer.
