Saving energy for Fjernvarme Aarhus

Grontmij in Denmark will save energy

Following demands from the government, Danish energy suppliers will need to make huge energy savings in the future. Fjernvarme Aarhus is tackling the issue by, among other things, allowing Grontmij in Denmark to make these savings for the consultancy company’s customers.

Consultants at Grontmij in Denmark will guarantee Fjernvarme Aarhus energy savings of at least 5,000 MWh before the end of 2008. And more if they can. The method is quite unconventional, but nevertheless perfectly obvious.

“In particular, we can secure savings by building better than the building regulations require and implementing energy-saving measures when renovating buildings, sewage works, production plants and much more,” explains Martin Lykke Jensen, Department Head at Grontmij in Denmark, who continues:

“In purely practical terms what happens is that Grontmij in Denmark prepares an agreement between Fjernvarme Aarhus and a company, institution, etc. that regulates the rights to energy savings and the financial terms between the two parties. Once the project is complete, we draw up a short report documenting the scope of the energy savings.”

Any company interested in obtaining grants for energy savings can make use of Grontmij’s agreement with Fjernvarme Aarhus. Lykke Jensen emphasises that quite significant grants are often available to companies and institutions that choose to do something about their energy consumption.
