A photovoltaic plant in Lund, Sweden was awarded as this year's photovoltaic installation. Grontmij’s Unit of Electricity and Telecommunications in Malmö was responsible for the design of electricity, control and inspection.
Energy
The photovoltaic plant is one of the largest in the Nordic countries with a total area of 767 m2 and an annual energy production of 70,000 kWh. This in addition to saving approximately 25,000 kWh thanks to a decreased need of cooling through the use of solar. The plant is located on the House of Ecology (Ekologihuset), which belongs to the University of Lund. In the House of Ecology research is conducted in science and technology.
What is photovoltaic?
Photovoltaic is the technology behind the application of solar cells where sunlight is converted directly into electricity. It’s the world’s fastest growing technology in the field of energy.
Grontmij has been mandated by 'Akademiska Hus Syd AB' to be responsible for the design of electricity, control and inspection of the award-winning facility.
Solar Prize
The prize is awarded by SolEl-programmet, which is a national development program for photovoltaic systems co-financed by the Swedish Energy Agency and the industry. Its starting point is that the Swedish market for solar cells, on commercial terms but in the long term, will expand from niche markets to the plugged in generation.
