Award-winning Nescio Bridge, The Netherlands

The 779-metre Nescio Bridge connects Amsterdam with IJburg. This curved cable-stayed bridge, the Netherlands’ longest bicycle and pedestrian bridge, was designed by WilkinsonEyre and Arup.

Grontmij was responsible for designing the foundation and the concrete first spans and for managing the project’s implementation. The design was awarded the prestigious National Steel Prize 2006, the Cycling Holiday Trophy 2007 and the international Arthur G. Hayden Award.
